Interlude — the chronicle that outlived everyone

Chronicle 6: Interlude was released in 2006 and forever changed Lineage 2. NCSoft added olympiad, hero system, clan halls via auction, Seven Signs, and Dimensional Rift. But the main thing — it gave players the formula that still works today: class balance, clear rules, minimum RNG outside of over-enchanting.

Why did C6 become "that very" chronicle? It's simple. Interlude has nothing extra. No elemental system, no vitality, no Awakening overhauls. There are 31 final professions, sub-classes, epic jewelry, and PvP where the one who best knows their class wins. The private scene picked up this version instantly — and hasn't let go.

Why C6 hasn't died for twenty years

Each subsequent chronicle complicated L2: Gracia added elements and vitality, GoD overhauled classes into Awakening system. Some players accepted the changes, some didn't. Interlude remained for those who want classic without compromises. Server files are polished to perfection, bugs are known and documented, and there are more build manuals than for any other chronicle.

On private servers, Interlude consistently ranks in the top-2 by popularity alongside High Five. At the same time, the entry threshold is lower: mechanics are more transparent, learning curve is smoother.

What you'll get on an Interlude server

31 sub-classes, Noblesse via quest chain, hero contention via olympiad. SA-weapon defines the build, augmentation gives cheater skills to the best of the best. Epic RB (Antharas, Valakas, Baium, Zaken, Frintezza) — clans wage real wars for jewelry from them.

Castle Siege on Interlude is canonical. Without custom frills of later chronicles: everything comes down to tactics, force deployment, alliance coordination. Mass-PvP feels fair — organization wins, not the one who donated more.

Classes and meta: who rules on C6

In mass-PvP, Necromancer, Bishop (holding), and Spellhowler/SorcererSS (AoE damage) dominate. Daggers — Treasure Hunter and Abyss Walker — best choice for 1v1 and solo farming. Tanks (Dark Avenger, Paladin) hold the front on sieges, Warlord and Overlord carry clan content. BD + SWS — mandatory combo for any party.

Archer meta on Interlude is controversial: archers are strong in skilled hands but forgive mistakes less than daggers. Healer without a party is useless, but in a group — indispensable.

Who Interlude appeals to

Those who experienced L2 in 2006–2010 and want to return "home." Hardcore players for whom vitality and auto-fight are dirty words. Players not ready to deal with the multi-layered systems of GoD and Essence, but just log in, gather a party, and head to siege. If you need pure L2 — Interlude is exactly that.

What distinguishes Interlude from High Five?

Interlude is simpler and "purer": no elements, vitality, instances like Kamaloka. Fewer sub-classes (31 vs 36), but PvP balance is considered reference. HF has deeper content, Interlude — deeper spirit.

What rates to choose on Interlude?

x3–x15 for full play with farming and sieges. x50–x100 — accelerated start, PvP in a couple days. x1000+ — pure PvP without leveling, but gets boring fast.

Is Interlude still relevant in 2026?

More than ever. New servers open every week, major projects hold 2000+ online at launch. Community is alive, guides are up-to-date, donat is usually cosmetic.

What class is best for a newbie on C6?

Templar (Dark Avenger) — durable, simple to control, useful in party and solo. For farming — Tyrant or Destroyer. For PvP — Treasure Hunter, if ready to learn.

Is there Noblesse on private servers?

Yes. On most servers, Noblesse quest available after 75+ level. On x100+ rates, often given for free.

How to get to olympiad?

Become Noblesse, wait for olympiad period (usually a month), sign up via NPC in cities. Win fights — earn points — become class hero.

Is it worth playing Interlude or better High Five?

Depends on what you're looking for. Want nostalgia and pure PvP without extra systems — Interlude. Want more PvE content and leveling depth — High Five. Both options are alive and relevant.

What is SA-weapon and augmentation?

SA (Special Ability) — inserting a stone into a weapon, gives passive effect (Focus, Haste, Health). Augmentation — random bonus when modifying weapon via Life Stone. Can give an active skill — on Interlude, this is one of the main endgame goals.
